I'm sorry I didn't insist enough about the difference between making ‘the’ difference and making ‘a’ difference. Anyway, I’m happy to see that my imprecision raised an interesting discussion.
I really appreciated Miky’s motto, I believe it expresses perfectly the spirit of the young engineer who wants to find the way to express his capabilities.
Anyway, although Stefano criticized this point, I’m convinced that making the difference always represent the greatest ambition for those who aren’t afraid of new challenges.
About Salvatore’s question, I’d like to say that the last economic crisis may represent an occasion for the big companies to invest more on new technologies, and an incentive for us all to face the world with more initiative.
The participation of Paolo suggested me a reflection, and a question for all you boys.
Are you more interested in the world of research, or you’d like better having the opportunity to find work in a company? I believe that this initiative may give us both opportunities, that’s why I’d like to hear your opinion.
The first sentence of the last post many people that "make a difference" can push a country (for example) to "make the difference"......>> that Ing. Paolo Marenco has wrote has deeply impressed me and has given birth in me a thought: what constitutes an integral? what constitutes a living being? And so...what constitutes a complex system such as a country economy? In each great system the "QUANTUM" is the player of the leader role and is the "QUANTUM" that makes a vital contribution to the success of the global work. And then, if any of theese "DIFFERENTIALS" (just like us) were to operate in its own small at best, the generic system could really "make THE difference" and maybe reach unexpected levels of success.
Hi everybody,

My thought about all the Silicon Valley Study Tour is: awesome!!!

The fact that we can visit important industries in technology is amazing! Not to mention the ability to have job interviews with them!

Excluding for a moment the trip to USA, all of the conferences is a good reason to take part in SVST. Not every day we can confront us with those who work for large industries operating in the areas covered in our studies.

Waiting for the next conference!

See you soon, Matteo!
Hello everyone
I just registered to the network and I wanted to give you a greeting!
I followed closely the first conference on "Silicon Valley Study Tour" and I agree with Gabriel Musso when he says that these important brands surely attract attention.

I also believe that the common idea of study tours is not "deep" as we realize at the first conference:
before i heard the words of the "veterans" of the past years, I thought that was just an experience similar to an "school'seducational trip" ... instead the possibility that you may, have left me literally speechless.

But instead of doors that open, I think this experience is interesting for a change of perspective: we can say we are quite "closed mind" and certainly this kind of experience can shed light on another kind of way of studying , technology and engineering
Good morning.
I think the conference was very interesting because I could understand the difference between our mind and mind of who America's work. I waiting for the other conferences.
Hi Andrea,

you were in the last sv study tour, as you told us during the conference. So i will ask you a question.
By your personal experience, what do you think are the main differences between our minds and american ones?
Hi Salvatore.
I'm sorry, but I'm not the student who went to Silicon Valley last year; even if we have the same name (and surname). I'm the one from Chiavari, he's from Sestri Levante.
ooops, I apologize for the misunderstanding.
It's not so common to find two person with the same name (and surname) in a little group.
anyway, nice to meet you
I think I made the same mistake XD nice to meet you Andrea, namesake of my classmate =)
Matteo tell to AB from Sestri to join this Forum...giving some answers
just done! Obviously via Facebook! =)
Hi everybody!
Sorry for the lateness, but I'm having terrible days for my abroad thesis planning... (hope for the best!)
I'm happy to see this forum is very poular and there are a lot of starting point for an interesting discussion.
Well, the first "episode" of the series of conferences has been very interesting and, I think, gave only a small but clear idea of the Sylicon Valley (or widely United States) research and business world.
Answering Salvatore, although I never had the possibility to spend even a few days in the USA, I do not think the difference between Italian and American people is in their minds but in their way of thinking, expecially in the way of thinking of those who manage the "know how"; I think those people completely understood the opportunity the scientific resarch could give them and they managed to exploit both their own ability and the knowledge of those who went to USA from abroad to complete their studies.
In this regard I would like to submit you to the current problem of brain drain; I think it's a serious phenomenon and those who, among us, will get to make the most of the opportunity "La Storia nel Futuro" is giving us, will be a prime example of it.
