Silicon Valley Study Tour

Hi everybody!
I open this discussion with the intention of telling my experience in Digital Keystone and helping students who want to try a similar experience.

I started to follow the conferences in the 2006-07 to partecipate at the Study Tour in the summer of 2008. During the Study Tour I had the opportunity to have an interview in Digital Keystone with my colleagues and I have been selected for an internship of 6 month at Mountain View in Silicon Valley.
Intership that I began in December 2008 and ended in a wonderful way in june 2009.

my stay in DK was great!! The working environment is very welcoming and certainly was an experience that will change my life.

My work in DK was mainly the development of a software platform for automated testing, which will become my thesis. I also had the opportunity to work in some of their projects, and this gave me the opportunity to see closely the development process of a californian software house.

To anyone who had any doubts or would like to investigate certain issues (interviews, visa, find home, etc.) please ask me.

Any question is welcome! :D

It sounds very interesting.
I think everybody would like to know about the interview, findind home and the visa.
Thanks in advance!
And I would like to know which programming knowledge they wanted from you and if your university preparation was good for that.
Thank you
Automated testing for software or for hardware?
Can you tell us more about the work?
My congratulations for your achievements and for your thesis! I'll do my best to have your same opportunity!
Hi Fabrizio!
please tell us something about interviews!
another question: what kind of Curriculum vitae is more suitable to an application in US? Can we use European model?
Hi Guys, I Apologize for my absence here, it was a hard month.

I try to reply to all questions:
- about the interview (and the preparation), my interviews were tecnical and the questions were about Computer architecture (virtual memory and paged memory), about languages and compiler, and some exercises. My preparation was good, but i think it's important if a question is not covered by your studies, be honest and admit it.

- about my work, it was software testing. They have many product with the same upnp interface. they wanted to be secure that something patched in a device does not broke another device. My software was something to run after the firmware compiling to validate the firmware and to have other informations (not just builds/not builds but also runs/not runs and works fine/not works)

- about the curriculum vitae, we used the european model, because it was requested. I think you can use it, but it's important fill it without personal information like religion, race, politic opinions or even the age. That for the restriction of privacy law. but on this, Marenco can help you better than me :)
Thanks Fabrizio...the 9 interested guys of this SVST already received the first Questionnaire from DK...the race is open! Let's see who is the "next lucky", this year!
So... Good Luck to everyone!!!
