About me:
I practice law with Carr & Ferrell LLP, a Silicon Valley firm focused primarily on intellectual property, corporate and litigation matters for high tech companies, biotech companies and venture capital firms. My practice involves providing litigation services and strategic counseling to clients on public policy matters, strategic partnerships, and technology transfer between Italy and the Silicon Valley.

I chair the Silicon Valley Italian Executive Council (SVIEC), an organization which has gathered the very top Italian and Italian American executives in high tech, biotech and venture capital to network, socialize and stay current on technology, public policy and the law. As the only group dedicated exclusively to these issues and these top executives, SVIEC has a membership of over 400.

Our SVIEC meetings have featured nationally reknowned speakers including: Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano; Kleiner Perkins General Partner, Ray Lane; Washington D.C. Superlobbyist, Jonathan Yarowsky; Crisis Management Expert, Mark Fabiani; Logitech CEO, Guerrino De Luca, Microchip co-inventor, Federico Faggin and biotechnologist, Roberto Crea.

Additionally, I serve as Regional Vice President and Board Member for the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), the major advocate in Washington D.C. for nearly 25 million Italian Americans and for strengthening the ever increasing cultural and economic ties between Italy and the U.S.

How did your hear about the Silicon Valley Study Tour?
Because of a strategic partnership with Storia nel Futuro and SVIEC, I helped Paolo Marenco launch the Silicon Valley Study Tour

Hi Jeff. I'm Francesco, a new member. Paolo Marenco suggest me to contact you. I signed up in this community because a main reason: I'm looking for an internship on which I can develop my thesis, grew my knowledge and meet new smart people. It's the second time in which I'm studying abroad and everyday I feel more enthusiastic. Nowadays I'm a J-1 exchange student at San Francisco State University. My major is Electrical Engineering. My home University is Universita' degli Studi di Pavia. I'm in SF just for a semester, but I really would stay longer. I know that the Silicon Valley could be a great opportunity for me. May be you can help me or give me some tips, since you work with high tech companies. I want to say thank you for the time you can dedicate to me. If you have some spare time when you are in the city, we should meet up. Let me know. Regards

Jeff, I have more precise dates for my stay in California: I will arrive in San Francisco the night of November 1st and I will leave to L.A. in the morning of Nov. 5. I will stay at Heritage Marina Hotel, 2550 Van Ness Ave. (as I understand it is not far from the harbour).
Do you think we could set an appointment to share some thoughts? I am more and more involved in new initiatives in Italy (including setting up a group of Business Angels: I was part of the trip organised by US Embassy in Rome to visit Golden Angel Network in Milwaukee and Kauffmann Faoundation in KC and as we came back we decided to set up a BA Group), and some of them also regard food, so I appreciate the fact you also belong to the Slow Food network.
I will not check my mail after Oct. 31. If I will not be able to see your answer, I will call you at 415-609-8055 (I hope I got it right) on Nov. 2 in the morning.
Thank you, best regards
enrico
