A fresh Italian tech scene emerges over wine and pizza

Italy, like a few other European countries, is way behind in the construction and creation of a “tech startup scene”. That being said, as of last Saturday there was almost no scene in Italy. Not because we lack the actual people, but because we do lack the sense of community and cluster of a place like, for instance London or Berlin. There are different explanations for this. The first and most obvious reason is that italian startups are small in number and in most cases are really, really…See More

Announcing donat.io

A friend of mine is starting a new website which will be donating most of its revenues to charity. I started to think about it more and realized there is no way for businesses that want to donate a percentage of their revenues, other than having to choose a charity and manually send the donation. [...]

Growth Hackers Conference Notes

This is a quick dump of notes taken at the Growth Hacker Conference today, May 3rd 2013. I unfortunately missed some of the talks (updated with notes from all talks!). Sorry about typos and incompleteness. Videos of the talks should be up on Udemy in June. Keith Rabois Value -> Growth -> Growth Hacking. You have to [...]

Startups are raising the bar at demo days

Thinking of starting a company? You’ve got to step it up. Startup quality is growing at a very fast pace. I hadn’t been to a demo day in a long time, but recently went to both the 500 Startups demo day and the International Demo Day, yesterday night. And one thing that I immediately realized [...]

Blog layouts suck

I’ve been playing with my blog layout recently, but I’m stuck in this reverse chronological template, which doesn’t make sense to me. When a visitor first comes to my site I don’t want her to view my latest post. It might suck. I want to maybe show my top post, or a selection of my [...]

How to make decisions: ask 20-Years-From-Now-Yourself

Ted, let me tell you the secret to life. Every time I make a decision about what to do on a given night, I ask myself, “What would make the best memory 20 years from now?” So I let 20-Years-From-Now-Barney call the shots. And it always works out. I’m a big fan of How I [...]

About me:
An Italo-French computer engineering student, living in Rome, Italy, with a passion for internet startups and business venturing.
Founded several successful websites and in February 2008, while living in Madrid, Spain, I founded my first company: Hosteeo LLC.

In 2009 i founded theStartup.eu, a blog focusing on european startups and entrepreneurship.
Being very passionate about the subject, and noticing the lack of information about the european startup scene, I would like to fill a hole, while trying to have as much fun as possible and learn a lot from the great people this community is made of. I just think there is a need for a pan-european blog, covering and giving the needed media exposure to european startups, entrepreneurs and events. I hope to spread and promote entrepreneurship to european internet enthusiasts. The ultimate goal is to reach and suropass the US entrepreneurial culture, but that needs much more than a blog. I’m just doing my part.

I enjoy travelling, DJing, photography, politics and loads of sports. Oh and Lost!
