Startup Founders - America Wants You!

StartupVisa is encouraging Congress to implement Paul Graham's vision of a new class of visa for startup founders.

The biggest constraint on the number of new startups that get created in the US is not tax policy or employment law or even Sarbanes-Oxley. It's that we won't let the people who want to start them into the country.

Letting just 10,000 startup founders into the country each year could have a visible effect on the economy. If we… Continue

A big noise on the APP Store. (iPhone app from Italians)

I never published something before today, and I hope you will feel this post as something about FUN and not a sort of adv. :)

As WideTag, a californian tiny startup lead by Italians, we recently introduced an iPhone APP called widenoise.

WideNoise is the iPhone application that samples decibel noise levels, and displays them on a worldwide interactive map with also an embeddable version of it. :)

Hi Leandro!

I am Stefano Salati. I just graduated in Electronic Engineering and I am truly excited by the idea of an “Internet of Things”. I just started a discussion about it in this SN and Paolo Marenco suggested me to look at Widetag.

Looking in your blog in the website, I found out that among the “smart” products you list there’s also the Philips Directlife. I recently finished a 6-month internship at Philips Research, working on a project partially related to the Directlife (in other words, a way to improve it!). I designed an innovative multi-sensor (the Directlife only embeds an accelerometer) wearable physical activity monitor. It has been an exciting and challenging experience as I had both to study diverse solutions and to manage every aspect, from the contacts with the suppliers to the actual development of the prototype.

I would be glad to discuss with you about these compelling technologies and new possible implementations you may be thinking about! And, in the case, about a collaboration with your group!

I read your message a bit late, sorry about that.
I am still in the moving process here, so... I have a hard time in keeping up with everything. Meeting with you her in the Silicon valley would have been nice, indeed.

I hope that there are good news as for the eye tracker: I believe that the people I proposed it to were not yet ready to embrace and nurture such an innovation.

Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open! (And the word game was not at all planned! :-)

Ciao Leandro,

To begin, may I congratulate you on the "Eye tracker": this is anything short of an excellent application which, in my opinion, could establish a new paradigm in terms of diagnostics (time- and money- wise the benefits are clear).

I'll do everything I can to promote and support it.
