Silicon Valley Study Tour

It's getting hot in San Francisco. Even more for our 5 start-ups, finalists of the Mind the Bridge Business Plan competition.
Tomorrow, their long-awaited week long road show in the Silicon Valley will officially start.
Their agenda will be quite full.
We'll start off with a whole day of introductory presentations, on topics of general interest:
- how to open a US branch
- how to cope with legal/admin/immigration issues
- what the Silicon Valley VCs expect from you
- how to pitch them effectively

The rest of the week will continue with several 1:1 meetings, mostly with potential investors, that we preset for them.
Here's the full agenda.

As you can see, several friends of SVST will be participating.
We even included one evening at the baseball game, to have a full American experience!

No doubts one of the crucial moments will be the Gran Finale event.

The word is out, there are great expectations on the quality of the "fantastic 5" showcasing projects.

Here's for example what came out yesterday on Repubblica:
“Sei progetti made in Italy alla prova della Silicon Valley”

It feels like the "bridge" is finally close to completion... now, we have to populate it with quality projects, for the years to come, if we really want to establish a reputation of success.
And clearly, we do.

Stay tuned for more...

Mr. Marinucci your idea is great!!! i think this is an interesting good example for people and companies who want to invest in future development and who belive in partnership. I had a look to links of Mind the Bridge Business Plan competition and Repubblica's article, I visited web sites on the subject too: I think projects proposed are very interesting (challenges !!), proposed by young people (good!!) and above all useful for development of everybody.
Then, the idea to create a bridge Italy-USA with this project could be an open window, a spin-off, for people who want to partecipate or who are interested in that activities (students-graduates like me too)!
Thank you for the work you're doing!!!

Here you can find the SVIEC presentation made by Jeff Capaccio at the MTB final meeting in San Francisco....we are mentioned, happy of it!!

Founded in February 2004, the Silicon Valley Italian Executive Council, was formed under the auspices of the prestigious Washington DC based National Italian American Foundation, to tell the Italian story of innovation and create a potent ecosystem in which our members share ideas, foster new business relationships and forge a heavily populated bridge between Italy and the Silicon Valley taking advantage of Italian genius, silicon valley capital and silicon valley entrepreneurial talent.
With a membership of over 400 Italian and Italian American executives from high tech, biotech and venture capital, SVIEC, the only organization to focus exclusively on these executives, provides a unique venue for our executives to network, socialize and stay current on technology, the law and public policy.
We work closely with the Italian and US Embassies on important initiatives such as the P4G and the BEST program.
Our members come from technology giants such as HP, Cisco, AMD, Sun Microsystems, Logitech and Oracle, from venture capital firms such as Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Ventures, De Novo Ventures, Lanza Tech Ventures and Noventi and exciting starts ups such as SpikeSource, Aurora Biofuels, Funambol and Your Truman Show.
We have paved the way in educating the next wave of Italian entrepreneurs by organizing annual study tours in collaboration with La Storia Nel Futuro and its President, Paolo Marenco, whereby recent university graduates from Italy come to the Silicon Valley and participate in an intensive two week orientation to our region’s most important high technology companies, biotechnology companies, and venture capital firms and their best practices. This year will mark our 4th such tour.
We are proud to help support this exciting Mind the Bridge project so capably chaired by Marco Marinucci. We congratulate these 5 outstanding companies from Italy who have journeyed to the Silicon Valley.
