I’m 23 and I’m in the first year of the second level laurea in electronic engineering. I’m very interested in technology, physics and all the things that are daily happening around us.
How did your hear about the Silicon Valley Study Tour?
Last year I went to the conference of Ducati, where they talked about their philosophy to be competitive in motorsports. I didn’t know that latter was part of a sequence of seminars, but, because of the good impression that I had, I decided, if possible, to attend this conferences the following year.

sorry for the terrible late … It was indeed an exciting experience, but at the same time quite challenging! I hope I can answer all your questions.
First of all, I had a study grant from the Engineering Faculty of Bologna. You can apply twice a year. Basically, I had to arrange the whole on my own. I identified a few Universities I was interested in. I wrote several emails to different professors. I had a few positive answers among which I chose Oxford. The professor asked me to send him my CV and a reference letter from my tutor in Bologna. Following, I had to find a topic that could fulfil both my Bologna and Oxford professors expectations. Once my project was approximately defined, I applied for the study grant. Next, I arranged my staying in Oxford. Luckily, my Oxford tutor helped me in finding a room in a Trinity College accommodation. Finally, I left. When I was there, I immediate joined his research team which helped me in familiarizing with the Oxford life. Students activities gravitate around colleges, and it took a while to get involved, but it was definitely something unique. Moreover, a part from Oxford University facilities and laboratories, I had the possibility to use external huge laboratories like the ISIS neutron spallation source.
I have to say that arranging everything took a lot of time, but it was absolutely worth one's while!
I’ve been quite general, just ask me for more detailed information!
Fabio
I am glad to have you among my friends, because I like smart people and, as I say very often, my strength lies in the intelligence of the people who surround me. Thank you Philipp!!!
