Research assistant, University of Bologna, DIEM Department (Mechanical, Nuclear, Aviation and Metallurgical Engineering)
About me:
I am 25, and I took a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Bologna. I spent 6 amazing moths developing my final thesis at Oxford University (UK). I am now working as a research assistant at University of Bologna. I like to meet people from different countries and I always look forward to experience new realities!
How did your hear about the Silicon Valley Study Tour?

Hi Fabio,
Many thanks for the answer... and for having me added as your friend : )
I'll explain you shortly one of my doubts. I'm a bit sceptic, because I think that if I'm going to do the thesis abroad in an advanced research center, beside the time spent to know the ambience and to improve the language, it will take to much time to become acquainted with the particular subject and so I risk to have less profits in what concernes the thesis itself. Doubtless it would be anyway an important experience.
A professor gave me recently the advice that it would be better doing the thesis here and develop it as a preparation for a successive specialisation abroad (in the same sector). According to him this would give me the opportunity to get more involved in the research group. And I have to say that this is surely not a bad idea, and is therefor for me source of scepsis. What do you think about?
Hi Fabio!
I have read about your thesis in Oxford and I think that this was doubtless a very, very exciting experience. I believe that the fact to be in such a great place enables one to pass the own limits and to find unexpected motivations.
I'm in the first year of the "Laurea Specialistica" in electronic engineering (in Bologna). And I'm seriously thinking about to develop my thesis abroad. But I have to say that I'm a bit disoriented, not knowing how to make the first steps. I'm too not sure what will be the precise subject of the thesis.
So I want to ask you how you got the opportunity in Oxford, how you chose the subject(was it your own proposal or did you choose between themes that were you proposed) and generally how you organized the whole? Sounds a bit long, but I'm very pleased and happy if you can find some time to give me some indications.
Thanks a lot in advance
Fabio...you are really the 300 Member ( not 301, a mistake of Ning Sw)....100 is Luisa Bozano, researcher IBM Almaden and speaker on Nanotechnologies in Poli Torino next May 20!
Hi fabio! thank you for added me as your friend. Where do you come from? Was your experience in Oxford hard? It seems difficult write a thesis abroad..
How to manage my job and my studies isn't incredible as you suppose. Both of them are necessary to me as "bread and roses" and living 24h a day constantly running makes me feel ALIVE!!!
And I'm also over-excited to get in touch with you and those who come on this social network... so I didn't sleep too much in these last months (^_^)
Hi Fabio! What a wonderful name...
I'm sure you have a lot of stories to tell about your Oxford experience. I'd like to add you as a new friend. Do you agree?
